Northwest Credit Union Foundation

The Northwest Credit Union Foundation (NWCUF) is a 501 (c)(3) organization that engages in activities and programs designed to benefit northwest credit unions and their communities. This includes providing Professional Development Scholarships and Small Credit Union Development Grants to support credit union success. It is the goal of the NWCUF to ensure that it provides funding programs that assist in the continual development of credit unions whose ultimate intent is to impact and support their membership.

NWCUF Professional Development Scholarship Program

Continued education and training of credit union employees helps keep the credit union movement viable and competitive in the financial marketplace. The Northwest Credit Union Foundation provides professional development and ‘Quik-App’ Scholarships for a variety of educational courses, and credit union related events to help ensure the strength of this regions credit union community. Through these programs, credit union staff is able to apply for funding that can be utilized for continuing education purposes.

As a part of both programs, funding cycles are implemented in order to ensure that adequate funding is dispersed for all events per a 12-month period. The cycles for the Professional Development Scholarship Program are as follows:

  • Cycle 1: Applications accepted January 1st for all events occurring from April 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012. Application deadline is March 15th. Recipients are notified the week of March 30th.
  • Cycle 2: Applications accepted April 1st for all events occurring from August 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012. Application deadline is July 15th. Recipients are notified the week of July 30th.
  • Cycle 3: Applications accepted August 1st for all events occurring from November 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013. Application deadline is October 15th. Recipients are notified the week of October 30th.

NWCUF Small Credit Union Development Grant

The Northwest Credit Union Foundation provides grants for small credit unions whose asset size is $30 million or below or have five employees or fewer. This grant program assists in providing funding towards operational efficiency, marketing, security, etc. in order to help ensure the strength of this regions small credit union community.

The Small Credit Union Development Grant Program funding cycle is implemented in order to ensure that adequate funding is dispersed in order to meet the needs of all credit unions seeking assistance. The cycles for the Small Credit Union Development Grant are as follows:

  • Cycle 1 - Due March 1 for review by the NWCUF Grants Committee by March 15.
  • Cycle 2 - Due July 1 for review by the NWCUF Grants Committee by July 15.
  • Cycle 3 – Due December 1 for review by the NWCUF Grants Committee by December 15.
